What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Atkore?
Who we are looking for :
We are currently searching for a Certified Welder to be based out of Kokomo, IN. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this person will be responsible for performing skilled MIG & TIG welding operations.
What you’ll do :
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Adhere to all Life Saving Rules, including Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding / Bypassing Safety Controls, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety protocols
- Perform skilled MIG & TIG welding techniques.
- Perform setup, adjustments and operation of welding machines.
- Operate an Angle Grinder to prepare parts for welding and to touch up surface defects.
- Set components for welding in accordance with set specifications and configuration and blueprints.
- Responsible for assessing welded surfaces, structures, and components to ensure weld accuracy and identify weld errors.
- Replace wire, filters, and gas cradles as needed.
- Must perform First-Piece Inspection, as well as all required subsequent inspections.
- Responsible for meeting and / or exceeding hourly rate goals.
- Responsible for completing the Hour-by-Hour board(s) for the duration of shift.
What You’ll bring
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and AWS Certification or Technical School Welding Certificate is required.
- Three () years welding experience is preferred.
- Ability to follow standard work processes and operate with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Flexibility of shift scheduling, to include overtime and weekends.
- Ability to squat, bend and lift up to lbs.
- Ability to stand and work a -hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Exceptional basic math skills required for quick and accurate calculations.
- Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
