What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Education and Outreach Coordinator position at Atlanta Legal Aid Society?
Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks a Community Education and Outreach Coordinator to work at its headquarters in downtown Atlanta. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education and health law.
Responsibilities:
- The Community Education and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Practice Innovation Manager, and works closely with the Practice Innovation Manager, staff and community partners to assess the self-help resource needs of Legal Aid’s clients for the statewide legal self-help websites GeorgiaLegalAid.org and AyudaLegalGeorgia.org; develop and maintain collaborative community partnerships; create and implement a community education and outreach plan; market the statewide websites, education resources and outreach events.
- The Coordinator conducts surveys of website stakeholders; assists in the development and writing of community education resources; updates the website content with English and Spanish translated resources; works with contractors or staff to translate website resources into Spanish; tracks and reports website usage; assists contractors or staff to complete a consistency review of AyudaLegalGeorgia.org.
- The Coordinator also serves as Legal Aid’s primary contact and liaison for our community partners; assists in data analysis of Legal Aid’s service area and client population; works with community partners to develop and implement a community education portal; works with Legal Aid staff to plan and execute community education and outreach events; maintains a calendar and coordinates staffing for community education and outreach events; maintains all written materials and equipment for community education and outreach events.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in Education, Social Work, Communication or Marketing (or the equivalent), and at least 1 year of experience with community education and outreach in a non-profit setting.
- Prior experience with website content development and management, data collection and analysis, and marketing.
- Meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, writing and editing skills.
- The ability to take initiative, work independently, and work with others across the program and within the community.
- Adaptability; and an appreciation of diversity are required.
Salary and Benefits:
- The salary is $42,400 depending on experience.
- This is a grant-funded position expected to continue through October 2026, but could continue beyond that date subject to successful performance and availability of additional funding. Salaries increase annually based on a salary scale.
