report to assigned local office on a hybrid schedule.

SUMMARY:

Support the underwriting team by timely and accurately processing endorsements and other routine supporting tasks. Interact in a positive and professional way with the underwriting team and the Managing General Agents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Timely and accurately process transactions (endorsements, new business, renewals, cancellation, and reinstatements) in the company processing system (WPC).
  • Resolve processing problems by computing the correct additional or return premiums as required.
  • Review endorsements to ensure compliance with our underwriting guidelines.
  • Communicate and coordinate any necessary follow up/issues with territorial Associate Underwriters/Underwriters.
  • Professionally interact both verbally and in writing with our general agency customers and fellow team members.
  • Review and distribute underwriting mail and determine what, if any, action is necessary.
  • Create and follow-up on outstanding items in a timely fashion via our diary system.
  • Other functions may be assigned as business needs evolve.


REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum 1-year insurance experience and/or insurance educational classes, or related experience in policy processing or agency customer service is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general liability and/or property underwriting, and be familiar with endorsements, including pro-rata and short-rate computations.

REQUIRED SKILLS


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as underwriting manuals, emails, faxes, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence in the English language using correct grammar and spelling.
  • Skill and ability to use and operate an adding machine, computer, fax machine, phone system and copier.
  • Must have a working knowledge of general liability and/or property underwriting, and be familiar with endorsements, including pro-rata and short-rate computations.
  • Basic math skills and working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, oral and written, are also a must.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to clearly define systems and operational problems and draw valid conclusions and recommendations as to how to resolve. Must possess ability to interpret and delegate an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations. Must also be able interact on personnel matters in a secure and confidential manner.
