Summary :
The Concrete / Welding Technician works with the project manager to measure, mix, and place concrete on the job site per the specifications of blueprints and drawings.
Helps out with minor pipe welding and pipe fitting work when needed as well. The ideal candidate has at least some experience in pouring concrete and placing pipe.
Job Description
- Interpreting blueprints and reading survey stakes to establish appropriate grades
- Ensuring that worksites are prepared for concrete footings and concrete forms are assembled in certain locations
- Loading and unloading materials, supplies, and work tools to and from trucks and the construction site
- Ensuring that objects or equipment is in the appropriate place where they are needed
- Breaking up or digging out old concrete before pouring new concrete
- Directing mixing truck drivers as to where to be positioned
- Ensuring safety by cleaning up the work environment and wearing the appropriate safety gear
- Restoring or waterproofing existing concrete structures with the use of appropriate compounds and sealants.
Requirements
- Physical fitness and stamina
- Good communication and interpersonal skills which enable a concrete laborer to work closely with co-workers and contractors
- Strong precision skills, as a concrete laborer must be able to mix, pour, and spread concrete in the proper proportion
- Several years of industry-related experience or apprenticeship
- At least a High School diploma or certification from a vocational school.
