We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our medical group practice located in Sarasota, Florida. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality healthcare services to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to assist our physicians in the efficient and compassionate delivery of patient care.
Job Duties:
- Patient Care:
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations.
- Record patient history, vital signs, and chief complaints accurately.
- Assist physicians and nurses during medical procedures.
- Administer injections, medications, and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform basic wound care and dressing changes.
- Conduct EKGs and assist with diagnostic tests.
- Sanitize examination rooms following each patient's visit.
- Documentation and Records:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for patients.
- Complete insurance forms, prior authorizations, and medical billing tasks as required.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Clinical Support:
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
- Restock medical supplies and medications.
- Handle inventory management and order supplies as needed.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments and referrals.
- Communication and Patient Education:
- Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Provide clear instructions on medications, treatments, and post-visit care.
- Offer empathetic support to patients and their families.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare and administrative professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education programs.
- Medical Knowledge:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
- Clinical Skills:
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and conducting clinical assessments.
- Ability to administer medications and injections safely and accurately.
- Experience with EKGs and diagnostic tests.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Competence in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proficiency using Dr. Chrono is a plus.
- Advanced computer skills and familiarity with medical software, Microsoft Office 365, and eRX processing platforms.
- Communication:
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to empathize with patients and provide clear instructions.
- Organization and Detail-Oriented:
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a well-structured clinical environment.
- Attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping is a must.
- Certification:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is preferred.
- Bilingual:
- Proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
- Experience:
- 3 - 5 years prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical group practice.
- Team Player:
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

- Flexibility to adapt to changing healthcare protocols and technologies.
