What you will do:

Develop, implement, manage, and optimize world-class field inventory planning and management system to support strategic objective of Right Part, Right Quantity, Right Location, Right Time across a complex global network with large SKU counts. Primary KPIs include; Days on Hand/Aged Inventory, Inventory Turns, Cost of Inventory, Stockouts/backorders, Inventory Accuracy, Parts Forecast Accuracy (Demand Planning)

 

  • Serve as “go-to” person for all matters related to field inventory planning and management system to include technical and functional.
  • Lead implementation of technology/software and ERP solutions for global field inventory planning and management system. Ensure system has a high degree of automated analytical and transactional capabilities (vs. manual).
  • Research, develop and lead global implementation of software solution, processes and procedures for field Total Productive Maintenance Program resulting in accurate “mean time to failure” data. Utilize TPM program data to enhance parts forecasting and ordering processes.
  • Effectively communicate to stakeholders the global strategy for inventory planning and management. Lead project and change management activities related to inventory planning and management.
  • Develop processes, procedures, training tools, KPI reporting platform, etc. for inventory planning and management system.
  • Serve a key data and information provider on behalf of Sales and Service group in SIOP process.
  • Develop accurate inventory forecasts. Facilitate meetings with sales and service teams to validate forecasts.
  • Identify current and potential inventory shortages levels (Right Quantity, Right Time). Develop and execute recovery plans to include root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions/countermeasures to ensure shortages are not repeated. Advise key stakeholders of status and recovery plans.
  • Identify overstock and slow-moving inventory. Work with system and teams to improve inventory levels (Right Quantity, Right Time).
  • Develop and lead physical inventory process.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of all confidential information, including inventory totals and other data.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external parties on Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Transportation and Operations.
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning activities.
  • Provide key stakeholders with inventory data analysis, reports, and consultation to help ensure KPIs are met.
  • Effectively interact with cross-functional colleagues across various regions of the world. 
  • Create sustainable inventory planning processes in partnership with sales, service and operations teams.
  • Proactively and effectively communicate system and process changes to affected stakeholders.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of inventory planning and management trends and best practices.  Implement continual process, tool and methodology improvements.
  • Work closely with users and stakeholders to ensure the inventory planning and management system’s processes and tools are understood and functioning as designed. 
  • Develop stakeholders with various skill levels into highly competent users of the inventory planning  and management system.
  • Lead or support testing and training of changes to the inventory planning and management system. 
  • Ensure process documentation and training materials are consistently up to date and communicated.

 

What it will take to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business, logistics, inventory management, supply chain or related field of study.
  • Demonstrated expertise and successes in global inventory planning and management, to include system implementation and the various related tools, processes, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience using VSM, Pull Systems, Kanban, Heijunka/EPEI, ABC Inventory Planning.
  • Certification in APICs or related inventory planning and management, supply chain, etc. (desired)
  • Experience working with ERP systems (JD Edwards desired).
  • Experience working with Advanced Planning and Inventory Management solutions and tools.
  • Experience working with analytics technology, tools and solutions related to inventory planning and management.
  • Project management experience with complex scope to support business transformation.
  • Strong understanding of inventory planning and management best practices and metrics.
  • Possess strong analytical acumen, superb business process knowledge, empathetic collaboration skills, a deep understanding of supply chain and operational levers, and a propensity to dive deep to solve complex problems.
  • Must be a strong owner and influencer, and someone who can think beyond the way things have always been done. 
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions/countermeasures.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and decision makers to achieve a desired outcome. Ability to impose form and structure to ambiguous situations.
  • Strong oral, written, and formal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple ways to all levels of the organization, including executive board level. 
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with ability to perform analysis at a low level of detail. 
  • Execution and results focused.
  • Ability to structure complex work streams and work independently and with teams.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and geographically diverse teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively horizontally and vertically throughout the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
