We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to join our client’s team in providing culturally competent substance use counseling services to individuals within the LGBTQ community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to LGBTQ individuals struggling with substance use disorders, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and treatment needs, with a particular focus on understanding the intersectionality of identity and addiction.
- Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating their goals, strengths, and cultural backgrounds into the planning process.
- Offer support and advocacy for clients navigating social, legal, and healthcare systems, including assistance with accessing LGBTQ -friendly resources and services.
- Facilitate psychoeducational workshops and support groups addressing topics such as harm reduction, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and healthy coping skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and medical providers, to ensure coordinated care and holistic support for clients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical standards, agency policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and emerging trends in LGBTQ substance use treatment and participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Engage in outreach and community education efforts aimed at reducing stigma, promoting awareness, and addressing the unique needs of LGBTQ individuals affected by substance use.
- Uphold ethical principles and adhere to professional codes of conduct, demonstrating sensitivity, respect, and cultural humility in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
Requirements:
- CASAC certification or equivalent licensure required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
- Experience providing substance use counseling and treatment services to LGBTQ populations strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of LGBTQ cultural competency principles, terminology, and community resources.
- Understanding of the intersectionality of substance use, mental health, trauma, and identity factors within the LGBTQ community.
- Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Please note- The annual base salary range is $50k to $55k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
