What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Set-up Operator position at Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing?
Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing Corporation is looking for an experienced Machine Set Up Operator to join our production floor. Atlas is a leading producer of small, precision, metal-stamped parts--regularly shipping washers, seals, brackets, and shims. Atlas primarily works with customers inside the aerospace industry. Atlas-made parts can be found in airplanes, power plants, and health care devices. Machine Set Up Operators work with the variety of machines on our production floor—the majority of which are press machines.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts
- Studies blueprints, work orders, travelers, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed
- Selects, places, and secures tools
- Places and secures workpieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches
- Prepares fixtures and feeding devices, starts machine, and engages feed.
- Observes each machine to verify quality performance
- Verifies measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order
- Sets and adjusts necessary controls to regulate machines
- Sharpens tools with bench grinder as needed
- Assists with inventory control of raw material
- Operate production equipment in accordance with training and established standards
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
- Complete production runs and keep records of approved and defective units or final products in accordance with quality and scheduling requirements
- Assist with basic cleaning and housekeeping
- Adherence to health and safety regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines
- Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and blueprints
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols
- Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred
· Minimum of two years’ experience in manufacturing
- At least one year of experience as a machine operator required
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in noisy environments
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
