We are seeking a CMT Lab Technician to join our Portland, OR team! Come join us!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare samples of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials for laboratory testing, following standard procedures.
Conduct laboratory tests such as Atterberg limits, grain size analysis, Proctor compaction tests, unconfined compressive strength tests, and concrete compression testing.
Utilize testing equipment such as ovens, sieves, compaction molds, and testing machines to analyze material properties.
Record test data accurately and maintain detailed logs of all testing activities.
Analyze test results to assess material properties such as strength, durability, density, and moisture content.
Compare test results against project specifications and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) to ensure compliance.
Maintain comprehensive records of all test results, samples, and correspondence related to testing activities.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and within specified tolerances.
Implement corrective actions for any identified non-conformances or testing irregularities.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Minimum requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, quality control, or a related field.
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
Work independently with limited supervision.
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Technical requirements:
Relevant certifications such as ACI (American Concrete Institute) Lab Testing Technician, Strength Testing Technician, NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in Construction Materials Testing, or equivalent
Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices is required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings.
