Atlas is seeking a Staff Geophysicist to join the dynamic San Diego team! Come join us!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The successful Staff Geophysicist will have a passion for the outdoors, ability to work in different climates, eager & willingness to learn and grow in the industry.
This position requires up to 90% fieldwork / 10% office.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of experience, previous fieldwork preferred.
Communicate clearly and daily with direct supervisor and project manager regarding fieldwork including bringing on-site issues to the project manager’s attention
Prepare daily report for fieldwork
Be attentive to detail
Be willing to continually learn new skills/software
Be organized
Technical Requirements:
Must have strong communication skills as well as writing skills
Must be able to read plans/maps and create maps
Previous experience using seismic methods, resistivity, and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) preferred.
Previous experience on CSAMT/MT or HSAMT field crews a plus.
Previous experience with utility designating using surface geophysics to Quality Level 'B" under ASCE 38-02 a plus.
Other miscellaneous qualities:
Must be willing to work out of town (travel) with up to 90% fieldwork / 10% office.
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and various US Department of Defense military bases
Must be able to check a vehicle for safety and change a spare tire
Ability to get proper certifications within 5 years
Must be able and willing to work some weekends and overtime
Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs.
Previous experience working in desert locations including summertime field season a plus.
Compensation:
$29 - $30 Hourly
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
