What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Communications Associate position at Atomic Data?
The Marketing Communications Associate is responsible for content strategy, content creation, social media management as well as basic design and creative work. A writing background, experience working with a CMS (WordPress specifically), and with Adobe design suites is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, outgoing, creative, and disciplined enough to work on a wide array of multiple projects simultaneously. A strong understanding of media, advertising, promotion, and strategic B2B marketing is essential as is a strong sense of curiosity and facility with communication. Proven proficiency in a marketing associate or comparable role is highly desired, and experience in the technology industry is preferred.
The Marketing Associate is based full-time in Minneapolis. Candidate must be able to work independently and proactively within a small-team environment. This is not a work from home position. Full-time presence in the office will be expected.
- Collaborate with Atomic Data’s leadership and other departments to gather information on content topics for development
- Create and maintain a company-wide content calendar, focused on supporting engagement and interaction with prospects, clients, employees, communities, and other constituents of the Atomic Data business
- Leveraging the content-calendar, publish a minimum of two pieces of original content per month
- Participate in the development of whitepapers, articles, and other specific forms of content
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Atomic Data’s products and services
- Collaborate in the research, development, design, and assembly of presentations and proposals supporting the sales and business development associates
- Research and write technical copy for internal and external communications including proposals, slideshows, collateral, newsletters, ad campaigns, and much more
- Assist in management of the Atomic Data corporate website, ensuring it is current and that the content and the content strategy is performing optimally
- Assist in the management of the company’s social media calendar, ensuring that Atomic Data’s brand is visible and supported strategically through the selected platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and the positioning of the firm through the channels defined
- Analyze web site, social media and content performance and provide recommendations on how to improve
- Participate in company events, supporting client opportunities and community engagement
- Provide design support for the Marketing team utilizing the Adobe suite to develop, edit and update collateral materials, advertisements and other graphic elements as needed
- Attend and support marketing field events such as conferences, trade shows, and special events
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Communications as directed
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, journalism, writing, or communications (preferred)
- Prior experience as a marketing associate, marketing assistant, or related position
- Significant experience with writing, editing, content creation/management, and a strong familiarity with digital tools
- Superior computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, CMS (WordPress preferred) and a professional understanding of social media strategy and platforms
- Intermediate to advanced skill level with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and/or Adobe Illustrator (preferred)
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp (preferred)
- Technology industry experience (preferred)
- Up to date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
- Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
- Proficient communication and presentation abilities and must have a high degree of comfort in engaging and working with staff of all levels, including the CEO and our clients
- In-depth understanding of industry and its position in the market
- Possess an eagerness to learn and grow skillsets
- Must be punctual, organized, and professional
