Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients by gathering, verifying, and entering accurate demographic and insurance information; collect referrals, pre-authorizations, copays, and patient payments as necessary, print fee ticket if necessary.
- Triage calls according to Atria Health guidelines.
- Answer patient inquiries about insurance, office hours, services, and other routine questions
- Schedule patient appointments and patient reminders
- Promptly and professionally answer incoming calls. Retrieve messages from the mailbox service or call center as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
Rescheduling patient appointments based on changes in the Physician/Nurse/Technician’s schedule.
Maintaining the general appearance of the reception area and workstations.
Knowledge/Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Minimum two to three years customer service experience
- Prior experience in health care setting and/or call center setting preferred.
Skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
- Ability to pace with call volume while performing multiple tasks effectively and accurately.
- Ability to effectively utilize all appropriate applications the current EHR/EMR, Navinet, Internet Explorer, PEAR portal, Availity (for AETNA), etc.
- Advocating and going the extra mile for patients, physicians, and staff
- Proficiency in the operation of office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and phone systems.
