Our client is a full-service paper bag manufacturer servicing multiple prominent fast food and pharmacy chains. They opened their doors in the late 1940s when they saw the need for paper bags in the U.S market, and has since grown as a family owned company to service the pharmacy and fast food industries across the country. They are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$70-90kPosition Overview:
The Quality Assurance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Corporate Director of Quality and assumes a supporting role in the overall coordination of customer orders as they relate to production quality. The Quality Assurance Manager is primarily responsible for assuring consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing manufacturing practice systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for making sure that the quality standards are upheld. This would include GMP’s, HACCP Plan, QC Records, Hold and release program and packaging food safety plan. This position will be a key member of the Food Safety and Quality team and have responsibility for leading implementation and on-going program management/oversight on SQF certification. The Supply Chain Manager is the back up for the Quality Assurance Manager, and will cover for absences or vacancies.Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
- Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
- Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
- Contributes to month end closing and reconciliation of inventories.
- Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
- Assists with audit requirements as needed.
- Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities.
- Develop and execute food safety plans to achieve and maintain certification and to meet all requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
- Develop and maintain systems to assure facility meets all food safety system requirements including commitment, document control and records, verification, product identification, trace and recall, incident management, building and equipment design, and pre-requisite programs.
- Establish and implement all training needs to ensure competency in food safety and quality. Maintain training records.
- SQF Practitioner & HACCP certified.
- Responsible for reporting issues related to Food Packaging safety or quality.
Qualifications of the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Experience: 5 Years’ experience in Quality Systems / Process leadership roles within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the packaging or paper converting industries. SQF, VSR & HACCP Certified. Demonstrated proficiency in the objective areas noted above.
