Position Overview:

  • As an Associate Director at Atwell, you will be at the forefront of civil engineering leadership.
  • You will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in residential, commercial, or industrial land development.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with your Project Manager(s) to create an annual business plan and present it to the VP/Regional Leader.
  • Set department objectives by working closely with team members and management.
  • Lead and support business development activities, offering internal BD training.
  • Establish and execute a team plan, including maintaining key client relationships.
  • Develop future business opportunities and cultivate relationships with current and potential clients.

Financial Management:

  • Manage revenue goals and key financial metrics.
  • Oversee team utilization, invoice ratio, earned margin, and profitability.
  • Effectively manage respective PM projects, including AR collections, project profitability, and change order submissions.
  • Implement robust risk management practices, including contract and proposal reviews.
  • Manage invoices and subcontractors as needed.

Process and Operations:

  • Ensure compliance with company and service sector standards.
  • Promote the use of company templates and recommend technology improvements.
  • Strive for operational excellence and establish repeatable processes for deliverables.

Talent Development:

  • Foster an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Implement performance management practices, initiate reviews, and support performance improvement plans.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members, enhancing industry knowledge, project expertise, and best practices.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and guide all team members, with authority over recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on various aspects, including requisitions, onboarding, workers' compensation, ADA accommodations, performance issues, and offboarding.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and manuals, including onboarding, training, enforcement, and reporting.
  • Champion safety awareness within project teams and provide necessary support and training.

Professional Development:

  • Stay updated through educational workshops and industry publications.
  • Build personal networks and engage with professional societies and associations.
  • Encourage internal communication and dialogue across project teams and market sectors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. JD, MBA or other advanced degree may be preferred.
  • Licenses and certifications highly desired (ex: PE, RLA, PS, PHR, etc.)
  • Typically, a minimum of twelve (12) plus years of experience in related field.
  • Ability to train and mentor project team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience utilizing Vision as a project management tool preferred.

Compensation:

A base salary is expected to be between $120,000-$150,000 depending on skills, experience, and education amongst other factors.
