Cost Accountant

As a Cost Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of our cost accounting processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze costs, assess cost variances, and provide valuable insights to optimize our operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in cost accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end cost accounting process, including cost allocation, cost analysis, and cost tracking.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement teams to gather relevant cost data and ensure accuracy of cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Analyze cost variances and provide explanations for deviations from budgeted or standard costs.
• Develop and maintain cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Prepare detailed reports on cost trends, cost drivers, and other relevant financial metrics.
• Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to cost accounting.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets related to cost and inventory.
• Provide insights to support decision-making by providing ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters a plus
• 5 plus years of progressive experience in cost accounting
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost accounting standards (CAS).
• Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions for financial analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting software
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.
