What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER position at ATX Learning?

ATX Learning is looking to hire excellent and experienced Special Education Teachers for our school sites in Hartford County, CT. Up to $65k annual salary, based on experience. 7.5-hour School Days. Certificates and/or Licenses:
  • Valid teaching certificate with one or more special education endorsements OR enrolled in an appropriate special education program.
Education and/or Experience:
  • B.A./B.S. degree required, with classroom experience preferred.
  • Experience with online tools (Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, zoom, etc.) is a BIG plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following represents some major areas of concern in Special Education. Other areas in the Special Education field will be required to fulfill all the needs of the classroom and student IEPs.
  • Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
  • Maintain contact with parents of students and invite them to participate in educational progress.
  • Maintain the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
  • Instruct individuals and groups on Special Ed. skill areas.
  • Modify curriculum according to IEP and administer testing evaluations.
All school personnel must successfully complete a fingerprint background check through Live-Scan, and provide current tuberculosis clearance, and COVID-19 vaccination status.
