Job Description Position Title: Production Engineer – Packaging Location: Kemerton – Australia Position Reports To (Position Title): Finished Product Superintendent Department: Operations Management Level Individual Contributor Number of direct reports 0 The Position Production Area Engineer - Packaging is responsible for providing technical support to ensure the packaging plant is operated in a safe, environmentally responsible, productive, and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the implementation and execution of Safety Systems and Procedures. Ensure packaging equipment is operated, maintained and modified according to applicable codes and standards. Ensure that quality requirements and product supply to customers are achieved. Ensure packaging operations are optimal to meet plant performance requirements. Participate in and provide technical input to Safety and Risk Assessment activities. Competency assessment for operators related to packaging machines. Demonstrate and encourage operational excellence and discipline within the packaging team. Conduct capacity studies, enhance system reliability, and identify/implement productivity improvements including new technologies. Develop and improve procedures and instructions to minimize packaging line setup and changeover time/cost. Be Customer SME and Commissioning engineer for capital projects. Problem solving and technical support in troubleshooting issues related to packaging area including leading RCA as required and support in training of operational personnel. Lead & Manage Continuous improvement programs to improve machine efficiencies, waste reduction and cost. Work with Packaging operations and maintenance team to troubleshoot packaging issues, maintain packaging quality, and optimize packing line reliability and efficiencies. Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators. Develop and maintain reports to communicate packaging performance against KPIs. Lead, manage and participate in Management of Change activities to provide technical input and review Lead investigations from customer complaints / non-conformance reports related to the packaging process and lead rectification programs. Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements Demonstrate Understanding and knowledge of machine safety standard AS4024 Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment, and people to provide robust operating systems. Demonstrate strong Analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated understanding and experience working with fully/semi-automatic packing lines including robots. Demonstrated ability to migrate data from multiple source locations will be highly regarded. Experience with Siemens PLC, Emerson Delta V, OSI PI and SAP is highly regarded. Commissioning experience will be highly regarded.
