Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Advanced Technologies at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated data scientist to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing data-driven solutions to complex business problems, as well as developing and maintaining machine learning models to improve decision-making processes. The candidate selected will:
- Develop and implement data-driven solutions to complex business problems
- Design and implement machine learning models to improve decision-making processes
- Analyze and interpret large, complex data sets to identify trends and patterns
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and translate them into data-driven solutions
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and techniques in data science and machine learning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Microsoft .Net, PHP, or Java
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or PyTorch
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, or Tableau
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working with large, complex data sets
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS
- Experience with data engineering tasks such as data cleaning, feature engineering, and data transformation
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, such as computer science, mathematics, or statistics
