Swim Instructor

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is looking for a Part-Time swim lesson instructors.

General Functions:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director and/or Aquatics Coordinator, provides leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants in swimming classes.

Responsibilities/Functions/Duties/Tasks

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Instructs swimming classes as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
• Develops positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
• Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs.
• Maintains records as required.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures including emergency safety procedures and completes applicable paperwork.
• Manages class equipment, including procurement and storage. Reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 15 years of age
• Be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Ability to lift equipment and lift/maneuver children during swim lessons.
• Within 6 months of hire receive certifications in: CPR for the Professional Rescuer; AED; Basic First Aid; YMCA Swim Instructor.
