Position Title: Swamp Train Driver
Department: Guest Services
Reports To: Guest Services Manager
Location: Audubon Zoo
General Summary: The primary duties of the train driver are to a give a guided tour of exhibits along the train route, provide a brief outline of the Zoo’s history, as well as ensuring the safety of all guests.

To deliver on the Audubon mission, the Swamp Train Driver will:
Provide a guest experience of outstanding quality (required)

- Driver will conduct a daily test run to ensure that train is functioning properly.
- Driver is responsible for fueling and cleaning train daily.
- Driver must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and thorough and possess great customer service skills.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag while working.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Audubon Nature Institute standards.
- Must remain alert throughout the duration duty.
- Must maintain daily train checklist.
- Driver must remain near the train throughout their shifts
- Driver must interact positively with all guests.
- Driver must report any potential hazards immediately to Guest Services Manager and/or Supervisor.
- Performs other associated and related duties as needed and or as directed by supervisor personnel.
- Monitors activities in work area to prevent accidents.
- Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
- Inspects area for cleanliness; completes general cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Provides general information on operation to guests.
- Cautions patrons regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to rules and regulations.
- Delivers the speech with enthusiasm and energy.

Experience: Some experience in tour narrations and storytelling.
Education:
1. High school diploma
Licensure/Certification: Valid Driver’s License
Software Requirements:
Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computer, fax, scanner, and two-way radio. Working knowledge of vehicle operation
Physical Requirements:
1. Sedentary Work: exerting up to 25-50 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. May involve sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
2. Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to pounds.
3. Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
4. Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required.
5. Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.
6. Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
7. Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
8. Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
1. Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
2. Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
3. May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
