PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of the Database Developer is to design and create TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, and DB applications for QNXT. The Database Developer will accomplish this goal by gathering end-user requirements, analyzing these requirements, then creating a solution using TSQL, SSIS or other means to complete the task in an efficient way that does not compromise the system integrity, performance or other critical operations. The Database Developer will also be required to submit detailed documentation of the solution to Trizetto for review prior to execution of the solution to production systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
· Provides TQSL, SSIS programming to populate, change or delete QNXT data and reporting needed to support validation and modification of QNXT data changes.
· May serve as project coordinator to ensure program logic and/or procedures meet specifications.
· Conceptualizes project scope. Develops and maintains projects plans. Estimates time and resource requirements. Communicates directly with other departments while gathering information and defining project requirements. Meets with users to clarify specifications and procedures.
· Designs system specifications to meet end-user requirements. Considers processing efficiency and code reusability/maintainability in program design.
· Evaluates and recommends products, and technology that will more efficiently meet company objectives for QNXT data changes.
· Ensures appropriate levels of programming and procedural documentation are in place to maintain the process and maintains documentation for the entire lifecycle of the process.
· Optimizes database functions, SSIS packages and SSRS reports
· Codes programs/systems in required languages. Utilizes appropriate tools to assist in the design, coding, and testing of programming projects.
· Keeps supervisor and users informed through timely verbal and written communications.
· Develops appropriate job procedures, scheduling information, and report balancing criteria, including creation and testing of automated balancing functions.
· Prepares and maintains program and system documentation according to company standards.
· Prepares test data and tests completed programs to validate accuracy according to company standards.
· Assists with training of new staff members and/or end users.
· Develops implementation plans, and performs production turnover.
· Provides ongoing support of systems and training of the process.
· Provides emergency support for system problems.
· Performs various other duties as required.
· Process Improvement: Continuously reviews, recommends and implements improvement steps, as needed or directed.
· Seeks supervisory guidance/approval as appropriate.
· Portrays professional image: follows dress code, communicates with internal and external customers in a professional manner, including appropriate verbal and written grammar.
· Promotes and demonstrates professional standards to enhance the development of the department.
· Maintains a minimum of 10 hours of security and skills training on an annual basis.
· Practices ethical conduct.
· Meets acceptable attendance and punctuality expectations (excluding FMLA)

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Bachelor degree with two year's programming/analysis experience, or Associates degree with four years programming/analysis experience, or six years programming/analysis experience.
· Must have demonstrated proficiency with Structured Query Language
· Experience working with relational databases.
· Must have good analytical skills.
· Must have good verbal and written communication skills for programming documentation, user documentation and end user discussions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Office environment with moderate noise level.
· Frequent sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, and long periods working at a computer.
· Occasionally walking, standing, twisting/turning and reaching upward or forward during workday.
· Hours of operation, shifts as assigned. Occasional afterhours support, on-call, off-shifts (evenings and/or weekends) scheduled as necessary.
