What are the responsibilities and job description for the LASIK Technician position at Aurora LASIK?
Purpose:
Deliver patient care in accordance with standards set forth by Clarus Eye Centre (CEC)/Aurora LASIK. Prepare patients for eye examinations and surgeries. Main person responsible for accurate outcomes analysis. Also responsible for the Pre-Post operative care of patients on the day of surgery. Patient educator. Directly assist physicians in performance of clinical tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for patient care/experience at Aurora
- Workup and diagnostic testing during screenings and evaluation
- Assist in patient education/Refractive Counseling
- Be fully versed in Refractive surgical options and physician preferences
- Educate patients before, during and after the consult, surgery and post-operative care
- Responsible for outcomes analysis
- Data collection/entry for outcomes analysis on a weekly basis
- Generate reports to assist surgeon in developing nomograms
- Responsible for the pre- and post-operative care/regimen for patients having surgery at Aurora
- Ensure that pre- and post-operative environment is comfortable for patients
- Ensure that appropriate pre- and post-operative drops/medications are available for each surgery day
- Keep accurate log of medications, shields, bags, etc. that are needed for surgical days
- Review regularly the pre- and post-operative instructions handed out to patients to make sure they are accurate
- Will be responsible for video preparation once up and running
- Properly triage acute conditions in person or via phone conversation
- Assist physician with procedures
- Maintains a sales philosophy by converting patients to screenings and assisting with retail sales
- Able to assist with scheduling, processing payments and support of Patient Service Representatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director
Required Knowledge and Skillset:
- A minimum of two years experience in an ophthalmic practice
- One year experience as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
- High School Diploma
- Strong technical proficiency and skills as outlined by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
- Ability to provide support to clinical staff of less advanced credentials is desirable.
