Job Summary: As the Production Planner, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the execution of production plans, monitoring production process to identify and address any issues that arise, resolving issues, and adjusting production schedules as needed to ensure proper analytical quality of feed mix and efficient resources are available on-site. This includes (but is not limited to): actively steering inventories, improving service levels, reducing costs, and identifying operational growth opportunities by monitoring assigned responsibilities of local production planning of Aurubis Richmond. The successful candidate will have a strong background in production planning, experience in budgeting and forecasting a production schedule, knowledge in software utilization and data management, proven expertise in working in a fast-paced environment and a focus on safety and environmental topics. In addition, the successful candidate possesses a combination of technical and analytical skills, can continuously prioritize, and shines in a challenging environment. The position's focus is on optimizing the production process to meet demand while minimizing costs and ensuring quality and safety. The Production Planner plays a critical role in coordinating the supply chain management production planning schedule with the different departments and stakeholders to ensure that the production process is running smoothly, and that the organization can meet its business objectives. In addition, the goal is to ensure that production processes in Aurubis Richmond are efficient, effective, and aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. The coordinator is responsible for monitoring and adjusting production plans, optimizing the feedmix, coordinating with the commercial team to ensure that raw materials are available, monitoring production output, and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned with production schedules. Responsibilities: | - Responsible for coordinating and maintaining production schedule to ensure efficient utilization of all raw materials for optimizing all production output systems.
- Responsible for working closely with the Inventory Analyst to ensure the necessary quantity of raw materials and production components is available for production schedules.
- Monitor and steer production capacity by identifying bottlenecks and constraints within sitewide production.
- Monitor production output and adjust production plans as needed to meet changing demand or production requirements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including commercial (buyer and sales), regarding material availability, lead times, production capacity, and production output demand.
- Communication with different stakeholders regarding relevant production activities on site that might affect production. Ensure that production schedules are communicated effectively to all stakeholders, including the production team, commercial (buyer and sales) team, and group production planning.
- Responsible for creating and reporting KPIs associated with onsite operations: inventory levels, supplier availability, mandating, forecasting, budgeting etc.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and provide regular reports to management.
- Supports Production Planning Manager in her ownership of all production planning activities.
- Responsible for keeping all production planning up-to-date and adjusting in case of changes.
- Orders chemical analysis of offered possible raw materials in a laboratory to clarify the possible use and consumption in the production, but also to prevent unwanted impurities and contamination. The analysis results are shared with other sites where the respective raw material could also be processed.
- Work with the production team to ensure that all production processes are efficient and effective and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Key-User for Production Planning software which will include software implementations.
- Must successfully communicate, interact, and interface with international and domestic employees of all levels regarding operational and non-operational topics. Examples of roles include (but not limited to): management, leads, engineers, production, maintenance, safety/environmental, procurement, human resources, stakeholders, etc.
- Ensures professional claim management.
- Acts in an industrial environment with high level of compliancy rules (safety, environment, quality).
- Extensive contact with internal/external suppliers/customers and/or purchasing and customer service department, to identify, research, analyze and resolve issues.
- Provide support in several areas, including issue resolution, financial performance, adherence to contract terms and solution design and pricing, as needed.
- Understand, comply, and supports implementation of all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements, inspections and procurement of equipment and parts.
- Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management – including being responsible for all reporting needs for the SCM department. (May include being part of specialty projects.)
- Work in partnership with Quality Team, Sample Preparation & Laboratory and Logistics to optimize material and process flows, etc.
- Supports to implement performance measurement & KPI tracking for operative responsible area. Establish corrective actions for underperforming metrics to ensure performance standards are met
Continuous Improvement - If required, support the AOS team and the entire program.
- Prioritize (improvement) projects and decide on the execution schedule.
- Structure, coordinate, monitor, optimize and document work processes.
- Leads the management of projects in Production Planning Team in consultation with manager.
- Prepares specifications for projects in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Ability to understand, implement and analyze SPC (Statistical Process Control) practices, to add validation to all aspects of the operations on an ongoing basis in addition to providing recommendations on aspects of the department’s strengths, weaknesses and needs.
- Continuous analysis of current Production Planning Team processes and procedures, proposals for improvements, implementation, and follow-through of agreed-upon changes.
Budget/Finance - Support in establishing and executing budgeting planning in Production Planning Team area such as but not limited to volumes, materials, cost centers.
- Supports creating budget plan and forecasts for Production Planning Team in collaboration with local and group SCM.
Operations - Monitor processes and policies to obtain organizational goals. Suggest, formulate, and implement departmental policies and procedures.
- Create and monitor department metrics and report to management.
- If requested, act as backup for superior when absent.
Other - Work closely together with other departments to ensure lean cooperation.
