What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Photographer position at Austin FC?
Austin FC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the 27th club in January 2019. Austin FC officially began competing in MLS in April 2021 and played its first match at home on June 19, 2021, in the new, 100% privately financed, state-of-the-art Q2 Stadium in Austin. Austin FC finished the regular season 2nd in the Western Conference, while also making a run to the Western Conference Finals during the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Austin FC is seeking a proven, driven, and motivated photographer who will join Austin FC’s content team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day photography operations, administration, and image capture needs for all Club departments, as well as create photo content that will be published across Club social.
The position is based in Austin, TX and will be in-person out of Austin FC’s main office and St. David’s Performance Center for work projects.

You Will:
· Work with the Lead Photographer, videographers, and social media personnel to develop brand-relevant photo content to be published through Austin FC’s social handles; and
· Handle all photography needs for Austin FC II; and
· Assist in day-to-day photo administration and operations; and
· Capture imagery at community impact, corporate partnerships, 4ATX Foundation, and Q2 Stadium events; and
· Assist Lead Photographer with daily maintenance of the Digital Asset Management System (DAM), including tagging metadata, archiving; and
· Serve as a dedicated matchday photo resource including shooting and editing matchdays; and
· Coordinating delivery of images for internal and external partners; and
· Assist with setup and lighting for retail and portrait photoshoots; and
· Continuously search for new photo content opportunities to drive fan engagement and deliver value for sponsors; and
· Seamlessly integrate Austin FC partners into Club photo content; and
· Research best practices in photography across professional sports teams; and
· Generally support Austin FC’s content creation and content commercialization initiatives.
You Have:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· 2 years of experience in photography; past experience in sports and/or entertainment a plus
· Ability to think creatively, using inspiration inside and outside the soccer world
· Demonstrated experience with still photography and post processing skills
· Understanding of sports action, lifestyle, and portrait photography
· Experience ideating, capturing, editing, and publishing world-class photo content
· Knowledge of metadata and how it effects the user experience when searching for an asset
· Ability to work with both ambient and studio lighting including familiarity with various light modifiers
· Knowledge of mirrorless camera systems preferred
· Excellent organizational, professionalism, interpersonal and customer service skills
· English language proficiency (Spanish language skills are a plus)
· An outstanding work ethic and attention to detail
