The Staff Accountant will join our rapidly growing team in our Plymouth, MN office. We are looking for candidates in the Minneapolis, MN area as this is a hybrid position.
What You’ll Do:
The Staff Accountant will support month end close and reporting initiatives of the Accounting Department. Under direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will help to prepare monthly balance sheets and participate in month end close. The Staff Accountant will support the consolidation of all financial statements and reconcile accounts as directed. The Staff Accountant also supports the senior finance leadership with key accounting functions, such as Month-End and Quarter-End close, Fixed Assets, Account Reconciliations, and Audits. The role’s day-to-day duties include (but are not limited to):
- Preparing balance sheets, income statement variance analysis, and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
- Carrying out month end close and complex journal entries
- Applying financial, accounting, & control policies for consistent practice/application of GAAP across the company
- Helping with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Supporting the Cap Ex expenditures process, including obtaining proper approvals, invoice allocation, sign-offs, and placing assets in service within our accounting software
- Maintaining fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation.
- Ensuring insurance payments, benefits payments, and all new state withholding taxes are remitted timely, either by ADP or through internal payment
- Preparing and booking all payroll entries including monthly accruals; overseeing the maintenance of ADP data for completeness/accuracy in conjunction with HR, ADP and 3rd party Payroll Processors
- Consolidating all entities while ensuring proper elimination of all intercompany entries
- Reconciling general ledger accounts and supporting multiple business units with cash reconciliations, month end accruals, and other duties (when applicable)
- Assisting with working paper preparation for internal and external review/audit (when applicable)
- Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data, and proactively communicating any potential issues as well as due dates to senior management
- Participating in automating processes and procedures and various initiatives spanning multiple departments
What You’ll Need:
- 2 years as a Staff Accountant required
- 2 years with journal entries & month end close required
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and databases
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated skills in accounting and financial policies, procedures, and reporting
- BS in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
- Experience working in a changing and dynamic environment (preferred)
- Sage Intacct experience (preferred)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are variable and based on business need. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Requirements: This position is indoors. Must be able to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. May be asked to lift approximately 25 lbs. Exposure to moderate noise and light, i.e business office with computers, phone, printers, light foot traffic.
