As a collision center manager, you lead and manage an automotive accident repair center, ensuring sales, financial, and customer satisfaction goals are achieved. Your responsibilities include examining cars in the auto body shop that have been in an accident and estimating the cost of parts and labor to fix each vehicle. You plan daily collision repair schedules to ensure efficient workflow, assign work, supervise the parts department, estimate repair time, and meet customer deadlines. You are also expected to identify and solve quality issues and repair delays quickly. Other duties include inspecting repairs to verify that standard operating procedures are followed and that you meet strict quality standards before delivering vehicles to customers.

Develops business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure an adequate sales volume. Directs the activities of body shop employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels and maintaining quality standards.
Body Shop Manager - Essential Duties
- Hires, trains, motivates and monitors the performance of all body shop employees.
- Directs and schedules the work of all body shop employees.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with insurance adjusters.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
- Gives fair estimates on costs and time required for body work.
- Follows up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability.
- Monitors progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Checks quality of completed work.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.
- Monitors paper flow to ensure that all documents are accounted for, filled out completely and legibly and filed or distributed to the appropriate parties.
- Prepares final billing for completed repair orders.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc. Provides necessary training.
- Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and being used properly.
- Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
- Monitors the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
- Maintains professional appearance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Body Shop Manager - Qualifications

Body Shop Manager - Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Body Shop Manager - Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Body Shop Manager - Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
