Due to rapid growth we are looking for a proactive and motivated individual for a Mechanical Engineer Intern in the AutoGuide Mobile Robot System’s Hardware group. With a new and expanding portfolio of mobile robots, this role provides ample opportunities to learn about and improve both the companies products and your skills as a mechanical engineer. This position will provide you with and opportunity to work with a small team in a fast paced environment to bring products from inceptions through production.
AutoGuide Mobile Robots (a division of Teradyne) designs, manufactures and installs the most technically advanced AMRs with one goal in mind: surpassing customers’ expectations. Working out of the AutoGuide Mobile Robots headquarters in North Reading, MA, this position involves providing maximum value to businesses in manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations across multiple industries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in design and analysis of mechanical systems.
- Support the design of new robots and robot accessories.
- Support and refinements to existing robot fleet.
- Support in-house manufacturing and installations.
- Generate design documentation and test plans for mechanical testing.
- Collect, analyze and report on test data
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
In addition, to be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
Required:
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to research and apply mechanical engineering principals and theories to solve problems
- Experience using 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred
- Basic electrical and mechanical skills
Desired:
- Experience in industrial autonomous robotics
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience using a DFM approach to Mechanical Design
