- Evaluates production set-ups to assure that quality requirements are met.
- Polices production floor to assure associates are performing their required task.
- Audit parts during floor audits to assure parts are good.
- Assists and trains production floor personnel in the use of statistical techniques.
- Assists and trains production floor personnel in the use of gauges and fixtures.
- Evaluates floor associates documentation for compliance and reports findings.
- Conducts audits of corrective actions.
- Conducts LPA audits as assigned.
- Conducts gauge and fixture studies as required.
- Assist with basic gauge and fixture repair as well as calibration.
- Provides support in solving production floor issues.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Ability to perform basic weld destructs and inspections.
- Travels to customers and suppliers as necessary.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
- Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Helps in departmental operation wherever necessary.
- Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
- Back up to Manufacturing Support (All assigned responsibilities)
- Back up to Weld Destruct (All assigned responsibilities)
- Back up for Cut and Etch (Prep and inspection)
- Maintains calibration status of inspection fixtures, push out tester, hardness testers, torque wrenches and other miscellaneous items through use of MQ1
- Calibration activities may be off site at supplier locations
- Responsible for general fixture repair including ordering replacement parts as well as working with vendors to obtain quotes for larger repairs or modifications
- Use of “On Base” for purchase request
- Sample prep for independent lab usage
