Nurse Technician:

Location: Avamere Olympic Rehab - 1000 S 5th Avenue Sequim, WA 98382
The Nurse Technician is a student currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at an accredited school and has completed at least one academic term, which included a clinical component. Functions under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and within the scope of practice that the supervising registered nurse has determined is appropriate based upon the education and skills of the Nurse Technician and as defined by the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Responsible for providing direct patient care applying current health concepts and assisting with routine or general clinical responsibilities that may contribute directly and indirectly to patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and document data gathered during the delivery of care;
- Communicate abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to the supervising RN;
- Collaborate with the other disciplines as appropriate to provide continuity of patient care from admission to discharge in support of the medical and nursing plans of care.
- The Nursing Technician may perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, transporting patients, supplies and specimens; ordering and stocking supplies; and coordinating clerical and reception activities.
- Assists in implementation of nursing process to extent allowed by education. Administers and documents basic nursing care including vital signs and observations of signs and symptoms and reports any reactions or changes in condition to the supervising RN.
- Participates in patient care conferences.
- The scope of the Nurse Tech role may broaden as the Nurse Tech progresses through their nursing education program and the skills are validated by the approved nursing program and as delegated by the RN. Provides the Director of Nursing Services documentation of skills completed in the nursing program
- Documents accurately, promptly and appropriately according to according to facility policy. Utilizes the electronic medical record systems as trained.
- Contributes to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit. Assist patient care staff in completing their patient care assignments.
- Protects patient and employee confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications. Maintain full knowledge of policy and practices related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Willing accepts projects and work assignments as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned, under the direct supervision of the RN and within scope of nursing technician practice as defined by WAC.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an approved nursing program approved by the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, Washington State Department of Health; or other state nursing approval body for out of state residents.
- Written documentation is required from the approved nursing program of the current level of education preparation and an assessment of the knowledge and skills of the individual.
- Completed one academic term which includes a clinical rotation.
- Enrolled in an accredited nursing program

Current WA State Nursing Technician Registration.
