The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $122,699 - $153,374. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence corporate strategy, build and lead a team of technical experts in design and construction of distribution system upgrades on the Avangrid network. They will lead projects in the Resiliency and Automation programs. Programs that provide the single largest immediate improvement to reliability on our system. These programs are high visibility with senior management and will require monthly reporting by the team to the CEO and senior management. Job Summary: Scope of Work – Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, and other relationships: The Manager - Projects Unit is responsible for managing activities between team members including project managers, engineers, construction managers and others to plan, design and execute projects, located predominately in Maine. The Manager ensures the project team delivers projects according with baseline budgets, schedules, scope, quality, and engineering standards. Projects may originate due to reliability, asset health, system capacity customer or other project needs. Responsibility includes meeting corporate goals for capital investment, managing engineering, construction, and energization of assets in accordance with the investment plan. Must manage team performance to maximize the effectiveness of capital budget delivery considering the environment, operating efficiency, regulatory, construction work in progress (CWIP) and operational needs. Represents the company in regulatory and public forums. Manages the team to optimize the work of external contractors and other internal business areas. Holds contractors accountable for performance. Holds project team members accountable for results. Provides technical advice to senior management when required. Responsible for the overall project control and reporting of the project team, providing leadership and coordination of the scheduling, cost controlling, and reporting processes and functions required by the Director, Project Management Office, or other business areas. Major Roles and Responsibilities (Scope of work - range of responsibilities): Manages performance of team to ensure goals, schedules, budgets, and benefits are met and all deliverables are completed on time and budget. Work must be completed within the Quality Management System (QMS), financial and regulatory requirements. Proactive approach to controlling projects scope mitigating the risk of potential changes Ensures quality of work packages of team Produces briefings and status reports on a regular basis for executives or regulatory agencies. May participate or represent the company in regulatory, public, and permitting proceedings for projects undertaken by the team. Ensure governance processes and procedures are followed within portfolio. Trains/coaches team members and holds team accountable for results. Teams are cross-functional, can be virtual, and frequently combine internal and external personnel. Ensures effective internal program communications. Considers innovative ways to undertake work, promoting automation and efficiencies in day-to-day work streams Job Requirements: Skills/Abilities: Experience managing technical teams of both internal and external personnel across functional areas of an organization required Experience reporting to senior management on technical challenges, their solution alternatives and their impact on corporate metrics required Expert in risk management and mitigation plans required Experience and understanding of tools/controls needed to monitor and control projects required Expert in utilizing MS Excel for data analysis, budgeting and planning required Excellent oral and written communication skills required Public presentation skills and ability to summarize concepts utilizing Microsoft Project Results oriented required Knowledge and experience in managing the execution of large multi-year capital projects or programs required Knowledge and experience in the execution and management of distribution voltage projects required Knowledge and experience in the regulatory environment and clear understanding of State, Local and Federal permitting preferred Experience utilizing SAP financial & asset management system and Portfolio and Project Management required Background in engineering discipline and financial controls required Experience/Training: Expertise in initiatives of strategic or regulatory sensitivity Experienced in contract negotiations and supplier management Project Management Professional Certification preferred Required Education: Engineering, finance or related field with ten years experience and five years relevant project management experience including three years in managing complex enterprise initiatives of strategic or regulatory sensitivity Bachelor of Engineering or Finance related Degree required Competency Requirements: It is preferred that for this job, the candidate fulfills the requirements in terms of levels indicated below. 1.
