MARKET ANALYST-ENERGY

Avant Energy seeks to hire an Energy Market Analyst to join our Planning and Dispatch Operations team. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the VP of Market Operations. Responsibilities

The Energy Market Analyst has the unique opportunity to partner with others in multiple departments to provide expertise in database management (set up, organization, management), analytical support, statistical modeling, ad hoc analysis, market research and programming (Excel, macros). Other responsibilities include:  Load Forecasting, model calibration, load analysis and regulatory reporting.

The Energy Market Analyst contributes significantly to the continued development of our knowledge and understanding of energy markets.  In addition, our operations group and senior management rely on the Energy Market Analyst work for tactical and strategic decision-making. 

Qualifications

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, preferred.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of analytical methods through work experience, internships, research positions, or work-study
• 1-3 years of experience in a business analysis capacity using analytical tools and methods to identify trends, develop projections, etc.
• Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel (experience with macros) and Access, along with exposure to basic computer programming.
• Highly analytical, quantitative orientation and able to learn quickly
• Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity and ambiguity.
• Problem solving and critical thinking
• Enthusiastic and collaborative team player that can work independently when necessary and remains calm dealing with urgency.
