Responsibilities of the Estimator:
- Develops and nurtures relationships with contractors, owners, governmental agencies, and other potential customers or influencers.
- Responds to inquiries from potential clients for information about our capabilities.
- Tracks and follows up on inquiries.
- Reviews bid opportunities to evaluate the fit of prospective projects to the capabilities and business objectives; makes recommendations concerning whether or not to bid projects to the VP of Estimating and Business Development.
- Reads and understands the specifications, drawings, notes, etc. in the bid request.
- Discusses any issues that require clarification with the potential client.
- Uses the correct labor rates as provided by the Controller.
- “Takes off" each opportunity, using the methods and tools defined by the company, or an alternative as approved by management.
- Works with the Estimating Administrator to complete a bid package in accordance with company policy and customer requirements.
- Reviews the estimate and the bid package with the VP of Estimating and Business Development in accordance with company policy before bid date.
- Submits the bid.
- Follows up on the bid on a timely basis and provides post-bid information, if required.
- Follows up with the potential clients on lost bids to determine the reason and debriefs the VP of Estimating and Business Development.
- Leads the post-bid value engineering effort, involving the Project Manager if one has been appointed.
- Meets with the Project Manager and the General Superintendent in the handoff meeting and presents information in accordance with company policy.
- Participates in the job completion review meeting.
- Maintains a high level of expertise with the company's estimating tools and techniques and the project accounting system.
- Complies with corporate policies and procedures.
Job Requirements for the Estimator:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management or similar study highly preferred
- 3 years of construction estimating experience desired
- Experience with Procore is a huge plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

- Long Island City, NY 11101: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
