Responsibilities of the Controller:
1. Direct preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of accounts to adhere to month end close process.
2. Ensure accuracy of all bookkeeping tasks; assure timely preparation of consolidated financial statements.
3. Review and approve the posting of all batches including general ledger code verification.
4. Participate in cash management including daily account review, substantiation of accounts payable check processing, and oversight of checking account deposits with timely destruction of physical checks according to department procedures.
5. General oversight of biweekly payroll process and related general ledger posting; act as a back-up to payroll processing.
6. Review and recommend adjustments to account reconciliations; delegate to all Finance staff as appropriate.
7. Review all CREC financial statements, vacancy reports and bank statements monthly to discuss trends and issues with property management.
8. Prepare financial reports for all grants and contracts; assist as needed to ensure timely completion of all reports.
9. Coordinate workflow for annual audit; prepare workpapers and supporting documentation in conjunction with Staff Accountant and other Finance staff as needed.
10. Prepare tax returns and other annual returns as applicable for the agency.
11. Oversee the health and safety, security and condition of the physical areas and equipment used in the Finance office; maintain knowledge of all office equipment.
12. Supervise staff to include work assignments, performance appraisals, coaching, resolving issues and employee discipline; assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
13. Assist in preparation of budgets.
14. Provides support to the Chief Financial Officer; performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements for the Controller:
- Bachelors degree
- 5 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Sage-Abila MIP or Paylocity software is a huge plus
- Experience with federal and state reporting is a huge plus

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
