Job Summary
Avantor is looking for a dedicated R&D Chemist for Product Development in the NuSil Advanced Technologies group will support the development of new silicone materials and silicone-related products targeted to address unmet needs in the areas of aerospace, defense, and electronics & engineering.

The R&D Chemist for Product Development within our Research – Biomaterials Group of NuSil Advanced Technologies R&D will report directly to the Manager of R&D Projects & Portfolio along with other Chemists, Technicians and Project Managers for Commercial R&D Research. – let’s talk!
What we’re looking for
Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering or similar science from four-year college, required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Lab and research experience preferred.
- Prior experience in the silicone industry preferred.
How you will thrive and create an impact
As the R&D Chemist for Product Development, you will be responsible for leading new silicone-based chemistry, materials, and technology developments to create new products for existing and potential new customers.
Design, develop, and evaluate new formulations for use in silicone-related applications
Develop project plans and experimental activities
Lead new product development projects through a stage-gate review process
Conduct and oversee hands-on experiments, data gathering and analysis/interpretation, troubleshooting of processes, and product optimizations
Develop and apply analytical techniques to solve problems
Facilitate and participate in regular project meetings and adjust plan and activities based on feedback to complete the project on time
Provide technical support to R&D associates and assist in hands-on training.
Write and review specific technical proposals, procedures, and reports
Submit invention disclosures that result in patentable subject matter
Present technical content at stakeholders meetings
Bring routine and non-routine problems to attention of management
