You are an explorer; you are out on the floor with library customers helping them with their journey through our amazing library.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Avenu provides local governments with ways to achieve more predictable revenue that supports growth, fuels modernization and ensures compliance with mandated but underfunded programs. Avenu’s revenue enhancement and administrative solutions find and recover license, permit and other taxes that cities and counties struggle to collect. The insights and improved fiscal posture enables governments to deliver expected services and sustain a high quality of life for residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Continually looking for opportunities to have library patrons feel welcome and connected to library materials and services.
- Assists patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)
- Assist with circulation activities including patron orientation, creating book displays, shelving, etc.
- Plan and lead a weekly story time for toddlers (18 – 36 months).
- Help plan and lead activities for our Children’s Homeschool Program
- Assist with program planning, promotional activities, etc. in the youth services department.
- Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- H.S. Diploma or GED required,
- 1 year library experience preferred.
- Some childcare experiencepreferred
- Excellent listening and communication abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some weekend and evening work.
- Fast paced public library
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in a library setting, using telephone and computer
- Ability to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
