What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Float position at Avera?

Job Summary:
- The Registered Float Nurse is accountable for coordinating patient care for assigned patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Emergency Department Nursing requires rapid and accurate assessment, planning, intervention & evaluation of a multitude of acute and chronic health conditions.
- These conditions include, but are not limited to, cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic and trauma related emergencies.
- Emergency Department nursing requires the ability to solely assess and prioritize the care and interventions of several patients concurrently as well as direct and coordinate other healthcare workers in crisis and/or critical situations.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship.
- Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives.
- Full-time benefit eligible position with 72 hours every two weeks; 12-hour day and night shifts.
- Position includes every third weekend and every third holiday.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of a registered nursing education program.
- Minimum 6-12 months experience preferred.
- Must have current RN licensure in the state of SD or "multi-state privilege" to practice in SD if residing in a compact state outside SD.
Must obtain BLS and ACLS certification prior to completing ICU orientation, and obtain FCCS and TNCC within 12 months
