JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT FOR HUMAN RESOURCES
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision of the Human Resources Director, this Administrative Assistant position presents an exciting opportunity in the Avery County Schools system. This person assists the Human Resources Director in all aspects of human resources management, including serving as Information Specialist, and serving as liaison for the employees and responding to individuals requesting information regarding the school district. This person works with the employees to obtain and renew licensure and educational credits. This person must be trustworthy and is required to maintain strict confidentiality laws. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from High School (Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration or related field preferred) and/or one to two years experience in clerical work, preferably in employee benefits-related areas or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate with a wide range of employees and vendors- Ability to interpret, analyze and complete detailed reports using a working knowledge of accounting techniques and procedures
- General knowledge of standard office procedures
- Working knowledge of general office equipment and ability to use complex word processing and spreadsheet software programs
- Ability to demonstrate proper telephone etiquette
- Ability to speak comfortably in front of groups of people
- Knowledge of insurance terminology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate positive demeanor with all stakeholders
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manage Substitute Teacher Program
- Maintain employee files
- Support for teacher induction program
- Assist in scheduling and processing recruiting information
- Assist with data entry
- Provide clerical support to Human Resources Department
- Help with Front Office Receptionist duties as needed
- Provide assistance with onboarding new employees as needed
- Use a variety of software to assist with processing new employees
- Maintain Applicant Tracking software and human resources programs (LINQ, Background System Checks, DOT Physicals)
- Maintain Worker’s Compensation and FMLA paperwork
- Process benefits for Health Insurance and Supplementary Insurance
- Process licensure requests and renewals
- Process retirement requests
- Posts jobs in Applicant Tracking System
- Gathers, assembles, and summarizes data and information
- Provides data and assists other departments in completing reports
- Manages the secure volunteer process
- Assists in a variety of department operations; performs special projects and assignments as requested; and prepares reports
- Assists the Human Resources Director in other assigned duties
Salary : $30,700 - $38,900
