Position Summary:
The Commodity Supply Planner position provides the single point of contact between the supplier and customer service. This individual's primary role is to assist with the critical day to day tactical scheduling and ordering necessary for all of Avient Distribution needs from their respective suppliers. This position's specific responsibilities are to plan inventory levels per the specific supplier goals, ensure optimal inventory deployment and manage inventory levels to meet service levels. The position requires strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to deal with large amounts of quantitative data. This individual must have the ability to actively listen to customer and supplier issues, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drives customer satisfaction and Avient Distribution profitability by balancing inventory levels and order fulfillment within established working capital guidelines.
- Review MRP planning messages to create and manage purchase orders
- Purchase materials in most cost effective manner to meet customer requirements. Consider order quantities, hub and spoke opportunities, logistics modes and other cost savings opportunities.
- Schedule and maintain process orders within the workbench to convert bulk materials into packaged goods
- Manage transfers within warehousing network to leverage optimal purchasing quantities and minimize lead time and freight costs to customers.
- Review MRP data to identify inventory and delivery exceptions. Define plan to resolve issue short term and long term.
- Effectively communicate supply changes to CSRs and Sellers to keep customers informed.
- Answer material requests from CSRs.
- Aid in managing the supply chain to meet operating plans balancing service needs and costs.
- Perform daily schedule maintenance based on new production/customer information.
- Interact with supplier CSRs and Sellers/DMs to resolve issues and build consensus.
- Maintain appropriate supply of stockable products at specific warehouses using forecasting models in SAP.
- Maintain and update material master data and supplier contracts in SAP for accurate and efficient system performance.
- Foster relationship with Suppliers and provide primary point of contact for daily interactions
- Work with Customer Service and Sales to resolve slow moving inventory issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree or related degree.
- 3 years of related experience
- APICS training preferred
- Technical knowledge of Supply Chain, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, and/or related functions.
- This position requires strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.
- Must be proficient in the use Microsoft Office software and have experience working within an ERP system, preferably SAP.
- Individuals in this position must have the ability to actively listen to customer and plant issues, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.
- Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
