Overview

The Proposal Manager manages, oversees, and writes responses for key new business proposals and presentations. The ideal candidate works with key business leaders and subject matter experts to develop high-level, targeted pursuit deliverables that address client’s unique issues, communicates integrated real estate solutions, and strongly differentiates Avison Young from our competitors; in turn, improves overall win rates. The Proposal Manager also collaborates with design and marketing resources to elevate the work product, and produce creative, visually impactful and compelling final work product.

The ideal candidate has experience in developing, responding and project managing multi-services RFx responses, working across multiple markets and regions to produce technically complex proposals and presentations. Experience in commercial real estate is also a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFx proposal responses from receipt of qualified lead through to final deliverable
• Develop proposal and presentation content through original writing to communicate Avison Young services and value proposition
• Provide strategic and tactical advice, working closely with leaders, subject matter experts and sales professionals to identify proposal strategies, content, design and win themes
• Work closely with leaders and sales team to identify top priority proposals using a go/no go process; maintain a pipeline list of high priority and target pursuits
• Refine and communicate Avison Young’s go-to-market approach and value proposition to differentiate us in the marketplace
• Manage the RFx response process by clearly communicating action items and deadlines for each team member across multiple services, including market leaders, sales team, subject matter experts, designers, marketers and coordinators
• Enforce strict adherence to quality control processes to produce excellent work product and timely delivery
• Perform or oversee advanced document formatting and presentation design
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction
• Conduct post-proposal submission debriefs (internal and external) to learn reasons for winning and losing
• Identify and execute process improvements and best practices related to new business pursuits and proposal management to increase win rates
• Work with Avison Young’s communication teams to promote business wins ensuring exposure across all communication channels and positive press coverage, where applicable
• Maintain an internal best-in-class library of proposals, pitches, case studies, resumes, and other content based on project type and client scenario
• Collaborate with the other key marketing staff with open exchange of content, data, final deliverables, and best practices
• Upholds the highest standards in spelling, grammar, syntax and style

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in a business environment; proposal management and business development writing experience required; commercial real estate experience a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with professionals and leaders of all levels and backgrounds, facilitate pursuit teams in strategic discussions, and collaborate with and influence others
• Excellent project management skills to manage proposal development schedules, priorities, and multiple projects, simultaneously
• Exceptional organization and document management skills and ability to coordinate with other disciplines (graphic design, writers, etc.) to produce compelling and impactful proposals and presentations
• Strong proofreading/editing skills
• Ability to convey thoughts, ideas, recommendations and technical information in a clearly understood and concise manner
• Demonstrated maturity, initiative and problem-solving ability that allows you to quickly gain the trust of others and be viewed as a leader of the proposal process
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team
• Flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks within compressed timelines
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office required, knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and graphic design, a plus
• University degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Marketing or Communications
