Job Description
To carry out, at a full Electrical Engineering level, engineering design, analysis and assignments related to Avista's Electrical Substation facilities. To perform engineering work which requires broad technical and company knowledge as well as originality and judgment in technical analysis and the independent evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Work duties will include all electrical aspects of engineering from preliminary design through final construction and energization.
The position is responsible for the electrical design of new, and modifications of existing, distribution and transmission substations. Technical knowledge and experience will be needed in the design, operation, testing and maintenance of substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, current transformers, potential transformers, and batteries. Specifies equipment, materials, and assemblies to be used. Responsible for the preparation of electrical drawings and specifications used for construction. Prepares and oversees construction contracts and provides field support while construction is in progress.
Requirements
Assistant Engineer
- 1 year of engineering work experience is required.
Associate Engineer
- 2 years of engineering work experience is required.
Engineer
- 4 years of engineering work experience is required.
- Professional Engineer's is preferred.
Senior Engineer
- 8 years of engineering work experience is required.
- Professional Engineer's is required.
Preferred Requirements
- Work experience in substation engineering design, field testing, commissioning or maintenance
- Other combinations of experience, training, and education may be considered.
