JOB SUMMARY
The biomedical technician is responsible for testing, repairing, and maintaining medical devices within the organization in accordance to CMS, NFPA, and NAIHO standards. The biomedical technician takes direction from the biomedical manager to maintain organizational compliance with CMS, NFPA, NAIHO, and other industry standard to ensure a safe environment in regards to medical equipment for patients and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for maintaining biomedical equipment.
- Evaluates proposed biomedical equipment by conducting tests and evaluations.
- Conduct tests; ensuring compliance to codes; following manufacturer’s instructions; trouble-shooting and repairing; calling for special service; maintaining equipment inventories; completing test records.
- Responsible for installing, adjusting; calibrating; testing and documenting equipment performance.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all applications development, including enhancement and maintenance projects in conjunction with customer requirements.
- Maintains biomedical equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; conducting tests; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions; calling for special service; evaluating service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories.
- Ensures that test procedures are written, reviewed and executed and test results (records) are documented.
- Maintains biomedical equipment supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Maintains safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety tests; recommending and complying with procedures; training and guiding medical and healthcare personnel; complying with codes.
- Maintain a safe and organized department.
- Utilizes Avita’s biomed asset management system to track preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and other relevant data for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Provides exceptional customer service support.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications; maintaining personal networks.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Associate of Applied Science Degree (Electronic Engineering Technology or Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent) or equivalent training required (e.g. military).
- One year of previous experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred.
PREFERRED
- Two years of previous experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred.
