We are looking for our next VP, Healthcare Services (Accident Benefits) to:
Lead the Healthcare Claims operation including policy, strategy and execution of all Healthcare claims management functions
Drive a robust Healthcare strategy and supporting business model in response to changes in the external (reforms) environment

What you’ll do:Strategy:
Lead significant indemnity and expense spends, while influencing actuarial reserves to improve profitability within the context of risk and governance frameworks
Oversee company case reserves and ensures consistency in reserves.
Deliver services within agreed financial targets, including G&A, internal/external, productivity, headcount, etc.
Evolve the healthcare practice in accordance with continuous improvement and operational excellence principles in order to drive efficiency and customer experience
Support the procurement initiatives that impact healthcare claims to ensure the effective implementation of procurement strategy.
Handle the major loss units for healthcare claims.
Accountable for quality control and strategic outputs on case files.
Play a key role in industry forums, government related working groups and seek opportunities to improve regulation and operational processes to enhance their effectiveness
Responsible for the SABS technical oversight of Complex Claims in all legislations
You have a significant influence over the company's customer culture through your behavior and values.
Articulate what customer culture means for the company and how this translates into your function.
Ensure that fair treatment of customers is defined and embedded into all activities of the function.
Ensuring effective and embedded risk management is a key responsibility for all senior managers within Aviva.
Ensuring that there is an appropriate culture in place and line with the requirements
Understand and champion the Group’s Risk Management Framework, including all Risk Policies and linked Business Standards; reporting and governance processes (including all legal and regulatory requirements);
Maintaining effective and efficient risk management and internal control systems in line with agreed risk appetite. Where vital advising action plans to resolve ineffective controls and bring associated risks within appetite, including outsourced arrangements.
Report on Loss Events identified to the Risk Management Team.
Investigate Loss Events and ensure appropriate remediation is carried out to prevent recurrence.
Consider key risks and risk appetite during decision making & planning to ensure changes do not expose the business to unacceptable levels of risk.
Act as the corporate representative to regulators, and represent the enterprise to customers, suppliers and external bodies in the development.
Ensure appropriate audit controls exist and serve as the source material for regulatory reports.
Build policies and controls for the appropriate protection of enterprise information through a defined life cycle, from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction and disposal procedures.
Monitor legislative/regulation changes, emerging issues, and implementing case law while understanding reputational risk
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in financial services or insurance industry incl. 6-8 years in leadership roles.
Minimum of 8 years experience with Accident Benefits claims in Canada or analogous healthcare-related claims experience in the US or the UK, including Workers Compensation and First Party Medical Auto claims.
Extensive knowledge of and experience with Accident Benefits claims handling in Canada, with particular focus on Ontario, including a strong understanding of applicable legislation and regulatory framework
Extensive knowledge of emerging Accident Benefits trends, evolving legislation, emerging risks
Strong leadership and people management skills to motivate, develop, and support performance for results, especially in matrix reporting structures
Business management ability with experience developing and driving a business strategy and related organization change plan
Proven mentor, influence and persuasion skills
Ability to lead collaborative, outcomes-focused relationships with multiple partners – internally within a matrixed organization, and externally with industry, government and community partners
Grounding in the technical, legal issues of Accident Benefits claims management including using a team of technical SMEs
Strong severity and litigation management skills
Proven operational excellence and successful organizational transformation
