AVL’s Business Development Manager will be pivotal to accelerating AVL’s growth by channeling in on new client opportunities, establishing and maintaining relationships with key connectors in the venture ecosystem, and guiding prospective clients through the sales cycle. 

 

At AVL, sales is not a series of transactions, it’s about human connection and the relationships we build with the clients, partners and investors we work with. This person will be a master at connecting, conveying value, and producing mutually beneficial outcomes by identifying and nurturing the right partnerships.

Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

 

  • Manage the client discovery process by assessing prospective client’s needs and conveying value add and possible solutions through AVL’s service offerings 
  • Be a leader and active participant in advocating for AVL’s growing market presence (in-person events, conferences, social content, and direct sales efforts) in order to increase our referral network and drive new business 
  • Work closely with the BDR to ensure proper management at the top of the sales funnel to ensure consistent, quality opportunities exist within the pipeline
  • Own the client proposal process including pricing, negotiations, and final close – looping in the Head of Growth as needed
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of client related marketing strategies
  • Identify trends and customer needs in order to build a sales pipeline for the short/medium/long term in accordance with business targets
  • Produce quality outcomes by working to determine client compatibility and alignment with AVL offerings and company values 
  • Work cross-functionally with AVL’s marketing, client success, and finance teams—echoing the voice of the prospective client and providing constructive and actionable feedback to the team
  • Retain a strong understanding of AVL’s services as well as stay up to date on the target marketing and competitive financial services landscape
  • Consistently develop relationships with strategic partners and work with BD team to further develop partnership offerings 


 

Necessary Experience: 

Must Have’s:

  • 6 years of demonstrated Sales and/or Business Development experience - B2B and Financial services experience highly preferred 
  • Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing a full sales cycle 
  • Accounting & Finance experience
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • CRM experience (Salesforce preferred)
  • Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Proven ability to manage resources and relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, show resilience, and consistently hit sales goals while driving performance
  • Comfortability being the face of the BD team and building relationships within the community; in-person, virtually, and via social media   

 

Nice to Have’s / Beneficial Experience:

  • Previous experience or involvement in the creation and management of sales strategy beneficial
  • CPA Firm / Professional Services, or Consulting experience a plus
  • Proficiency working within programs and platforms like Excel, Google Suite, Slack, and Salesforce
  • Previously built network of connections in our industry and community

Physical Demand and Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be required; estimated travel time is less than 20%
  • Must be located in Boulder-Denver or surrounding areas 
  • Remote or Hybrid role - flexibility to work remotely with the preference of coming into the office on occasion (or more if desired)

 

Compensation 

  • Full-time position
  • Base salary range $80,00 to 90,000 DOE plus variable commission. Total compensation will be a combination of base salary, commission and annual incentive bonus
