What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Specialist position at Avo Photonics?
Avo Photonics is a dynamic contract engineering services company that designs, develops, and manufactures custom opto-electronic products for a growing customer base. Members of our staff have the opportunity to produce next generation products for a diverse range of markets including aerospace, military, medical, industrial, and communications.
We seek a diligent, dedicated, and meticulous person to join our talented Finance Department. An ideal candidate must be self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills.
Specifically:
- Receive, review, and process high volume of invoices promptly and efficiently, including obtaining all necessary approvals & support
- Accurately enter invoice details into the accounting system, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information
- Prepare and process payment batches, including checks, ACH transfers, and electronic payments, in accordance with payment terms and company policies
- Manage vendor accounts, including communication regarding payment inquiries, discrepancies, and account reconciliations
- Coordinate with Purchasing & Receiving departments to obtain required supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations in all accounts payable activities
- Identify process improvements for efficiency and collaborate with team members to implement solutions
- Generate and analyze accounts payable reports to provide insights into vendor performance, payment trends, and other relevant metrics
- Provide ad hoc support to the Finance team and assist with special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting
- 3 years’ experience in accounts payable or similar role, with a solid understanding of accounts payable processes and principles; manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP software, SAP preferred
- Strong attention to detail, along with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong sense of accountability and process ownership
- Effective problem-solving abilities and flexibility in a dynamic work environment
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
