Job Posting for MHAIA Data and Insights Manager at Avocados from Mexico
The Data & Insights Manager (DIM) is responsible for the Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association’s (MHAIA) Data and Analytics systems. The DIM is in charge of the data management, forecasting, reporting, and analytics for MHAIA and Avocados from Mexico (AFM), a wholly owned subsidiary. This covers long and short-term demand forecasting; market and competitive intelligence; and long and short-term crop forecasting, estimates, and reporting. The DIM helps advance the organization's mission of supplying consistent high-quality avocados all year long and advocating the interests of importers of Hass Avocados from Mexico by providing importers with strategic data and insights.
The DIM is also responsible for managing the development and maintenance of MHAIA’s web-based centralized, market intelligence portal where users can access various reports and analytic information. Furthermore, the DIM assists the Finance Director with special projects and assignments as directed.
Responsibilities
Work with MHAIA, APEAM (the Association of Avocado Exporting Producers and Packers of Mexico), and AFM data and insights architectures across its data sources to develop a single, integrated system that embraces the data needs of all stakeholders.
Analyze relevant data sources for strategic insights.
Perform data quality control, security, and governance.
Stay up-to-date and implement the latest data analytics tools and methodologies.
Manage MHAIA’s website.
Pressure test and improve long-term Mexican avocado forecasts.
Coordinate avocado crop estimates and imports.
Reporting on US consumer demand and trends for avocados.
Reporting on competitive sources of avocados.
Reporting on demand and supply trends and changes in non-US countries that could have an impact in the US market.
Create other ad hoc reports.
Generate insights from all key avocado data sources.
Support the Finance Director as required.
Skills/Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Microsoft Office automation products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Technical skills in data tools like Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
Systems and Application (SAP) Financial Module (FM) and Adaptive Planning Systems (APS) use ad-hoc reporting.
Marketing intelligence and demand forecasting analytics.
Leadership and management skills in the following areas are highly desirable: exceptional communications and presentation skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on accuracy.
Education/Experience Requirements
University or college degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field is highly desirable.
3 years minimum experience in a data and insights role, preferably in the commodity or CPG industry, is highly desirable with proven experience in data, analytics, and insights.
