What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Avōq?
Avōq is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller. We are looking for someone who is skilled with numbers and equally able to work across departments to ensure smooth administrative operations and exceptional customer service. You will be part of a growing multi-office Finance & Operations team who will help you with on boarding and initial training.
WHO YOU ARE
- Experienced with Excel and is eager to share with the team.
- Organized and punctual.
- Innovative enough to figure out solutions to improve finance functions firm wide.
- Able to adapt, be responsive to changing tasks, and help account teams stay structured
- A great communicator. You must be able to compile complicated project financials and summarize any issues, questions, or missing information to the project manager.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage all operational accounting functions including client billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
- Assist in month-end closing process (Employee time sheets, expense reports, bank reconciliation, accruals)
- Oversee monthly financial close, prepare and post journal entries, perform GL reconciliations.
- Manage revenue trackers and cost of sales analysis.
- Ensure monthly invoices are sent out on time and oversee other financial deadlines.
- Aid Director of Finance in updating the revenue and P&L forecast.
- Aid account teams with RFP and proposal preparation as it relates to providing the firm’s financial and administrative information.
- Assist in maintaining tax & filing deadlines.
- Ensuring all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines.
- Working with the company financial team to create internal controls and policies.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- As a qualified candidate, you have experience in the areas below:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Proficient with operational accounting functions and financial statement preparation
- Strong grasp of financial accounting basics (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Debits & Credits)
- Expert level capability with Excel and automated accounting tools
- Experience with expense reporting software such as Concur or Ramp
- NetSuite experience a plus
- An independent, critical thinker
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
