Salary Range:    $47,300.00 - $57,300.00 Salary

Description

Job Summary: Provides grief and bereavement support for children of hospice families and children in the community, also including but not limited to supporting children experiencing loss through deployment, incarceration, divorce, and deportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the bereavement needs of children and develop programs to meet the needs.
  • Plan, promotes, conducts and evaluates grief workshops in Collier County Schools.
  • Provide individual/group grief counseling to children and families as needed.
  • Maintain bereavement records and documentation in the EMR and Avow files.
  • Serve as a resource on children’s grief and bereavement.
  • Educate staff and community on children’s grief issues.
  • Compile reports and statistical data as appropriate.
  • Serve as liaison with other community agencies dealing with children.
  •  Assist and counsel social services coordinators/counselors and bereavement services coordinators/counselors on bereavement issues relating to children.
  • Serve as a resource to the organization as needed (i.e. task forces).
  • Serve as a hospice advocate in the community.
  • Accept speaking engagements on children’s grief and loss and hospice programs.
  • Communicate regularly with school guidance counselors and other officials regarding children’s issues and school grief workshops.
  • Participate in planning and implementing children’s camps including day and overnight camps.
  •  Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvements, data based outcomes, grant writing opportunities as assigned.
  • Adhere to all Policies and Procedures of Avow with annual review of policy handbook.
  • Actively participate in customer engagement experience outcomes.
  • Complete and remain active as a crowd control manager.
  • Independently participate in the “A Vow to Volunteer” program.
  • Meet productivity expectations as assigned by the organization.
  • Respond emergently to community needs when called upon to support a child/family in crisis.
  • Cross train in Hospice care and participate in Hospice IDT when needed.
  • Submit resume yearly and complete necessary requirement to fulfill Memorandum of Understanding with Collier County Schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Job Requirements: Computer Skills: Strong ability to maneuver through a variety of electronic programs via computer and/or handheld device. Databases consist of e-mail, electronic payroll and education systems, as well as EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and Avow’s electronic filing system, Apricot.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education/Experience: Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or family and marriage therapy from an accredited college or university required plus 2-3 years’ experience preferred.
Language Skills: Communication skills of reading, writing, and speaking in English. Bilingual or trilingual preferred.

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret tables and bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire and maintain without expiration during employment. Crowd Control required within 90 days of hire. Must maintain and keep current.

Other Qualifications: Valid Florida driver’s license.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position does include day and nighttime driving.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Must able to endure exposure to common household allergens (i.e. pets, plants, dust, etc.).
