ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Avoya Travel is hiring a full-time Controller.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller with CPA (Certified Public Accountant) credentials to join our dynamic team within the travel industry. As a Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulations. Your expertise will be vital in driving financial strategies, implementing robust financial controls, and providing valuable insights to support informed business decisions within our travel company.
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Further, this candidate is also responsible for treasury, cash management, tax compliance and risk management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Financial Management:
· Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing.
· Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and forecasts to provide accurate and timely insights into the company's financial performance.
· Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for business operations.
· Collaborate with department heads to develop and maintain departmental budgets and expense controls.
Compliance and Reporting:
· Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, regulations, and tax laws.
· Coordinate the timely completion of financial audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting requirements.
· Maintain a thorough understanding of industry-specific accounting standards and their implications for the company's financial reporting.
Strategic Analysis:
· Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
· Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the executive team.
· Evaluate potential investment opportunities and assess their financial viability.
Internal Controls:
· Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial irregularities.
· Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Team Management:
· Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals to ensure efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing support for professional growth.
System and Process Improvement:
· Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within the finance department.
· Implement accounting software and tools to streamline financial reporting and analysis.
· Assist with other tasks and/or special projects as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
· Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
· Experience in developing and maintaining effective internal controls and risk management processes.
· Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their application.
· Advanced Financial Modeling and Excel skills
- Prior experience managing a team of people.
- Ability to prepare and present financial analysis to a non-finance audience.
· Familiarity with accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
· Must be highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well in a fast-paced changing environment.
· Ability to handle situations in a calm, professional manner and exhibit good judgment.
· Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with vendors using a positive, clear speaking voice.
· Possess a strong attention to detail, operate effortlessly in a highly dynamic environment.
· QuickBooks and/or NetSuite experience a plus
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION
· A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or in Senior Financial Management with 5 years of progressively managing people
· Previous travel industry experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
· CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is required.
PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift to 15lbs at a time.
· Ability to travel to home office or other locations as needed.
