As a Senior Underwriting Assistant, a significant proportion of your responsibilities will be full underwriting support in nature and supporting the offshore data entry, processing and aggregate teams.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Actively learning about the market, underwriting and business plans and reinsurance.
- Actively increasing presence within the market.
- Understanding underwriters and teams globally.
- Knowing the key players in the market - both underwriters and brokers.
- Progressing through professional qualifications.
- Cross training in all Marine lines of business.
- Gathering underwriting information on behalf of the underwriter and complete underwriting quote and binder templates, essential services or other documentation, ensuring timelines and accuracy levels are met.
- Rating policies for renewal accounts, where applicable, to be quoted to determine whether premium is consistent with expiration policies for underwriter review and approval.
- Data Compilation / Analysis / Assessment / Management Compiling, analyzing, assessing and managing data.
- Conducting routine data analysis and manipulation using spreadsheets and databases.
- Monitoring loss ratios.
- Compiling data into reports for premium monitoring.
- Interacting with and supporting underwriters on day-to-day business issues.
- Helping manage day-to-day risk workflow : maintenance of electronic underwriting files through DIVA and correspondence through DIVA workflow to our offshore team for accurate downstream reporting (accurate and timely).
- Corresponding through DIVA to our offshore team to book policies and endorsements accurately and in a timely manner.
- Some processing into financial systems where risks are urgent or complex.
- Monitoring and tracking renewals.
- Demonstrating a proactive approach to suggesting approaches for improvement in work processes.
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Building and maintaining relationships internally and with brokers.
- You will report to the Operations Manager for Marine Middle Office.
You will report to Team Lead- Marine.

Required Skills and Abilities :
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to summarize large amounts of information.
- Strong knowledge of common industry standards.
- Previous experience working within the commercial insurance environment.
- Experience within Ocean Marine to include Liabilities HMP and Excess.
- Insurance-related courses encouraged.
- Commercial insurance underwriting process experience desirable.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Solid Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products : Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Analytical skills
