JOB TITLE: Lead EHS Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing IH oversight to the Mount Clemens Plant.
- Experience with RC 14001 and managing the audit process
- Conducts exposure assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality investigations, response to employee concerns, air monitoring during emergency responses, and recommending corrective action to minimize exposure risk to employees and contractors during routine operations, turnarounds, and capital projects.
- Collects, reviews, documents, and summarizes exposure assessment and monitoring data to comply with legal and corporate requirements. Identifies potential health stressors, and determines the need for, and effectiveness of, exposure control methods.
- Prepares and maintains standards, procedures, and training for industrial hygiene related topics to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Along with Health Care Services, maintain and update exposure based medical surveillance programs.
- Manages and maintains industrial hygiene equipment and associated software.
- Conducts industrial hygiene audits following Axalta’s audit process.
- Serves as the local subject matter expert in the areas of chemical, physical, and biological agent exposure control, emergency response air monitoring techniques, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment.
- Responsible for management of all Industrial Hygiene programs including the R&D lab chemical hygiene plan
- Develop and provide training to personnel on a variety of IH and health topics.
- Facilitate incident investigations
- Responsible for the industrial hygiene and health reviews of MOCs and PSSRs, as well as assisting with chemical inventory and changes.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or related field
- Hands on experience in the implementation of occupational health components within an EHS system (hearing conservation, hazard communication, PPE, bloodborne pathogens, medical monitoring, etc.)
- Five (5) years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Ability to travel (up to 25%)
- Advanced degree in EHS (M.S.)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Chemical manufacturing experience
